It’s Time to Be Excited About Ronald Darby

Ronald Darby is entering the final season under contract with the Eagles. After suffering a dislocated ankle in the season-opener last year, Darby returned later in the season and played fairly average defense, but well enough to help the team win its first Lombardi Trophy.

Now as the regular season approaches, Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has some high praise for his number one cornerback

A healthy, speedy Darby with a full off-season of training and tape under his belt should improve both his and the defense’s play from last season. However, Schwartz’s comments could be taken with a grain of salt, as it was reported a few days ago that the team is listening to offers for Darby.

These comments could be the team’s attempt to try and boost Darby’s stock for any potential trade. The team might feel that they won’t be able to offer him a big contract this offseason, and will want to get some compensation for him instead of letting him walk in the offseason and being left empty-handed. The tape doesn’t lie though, Darby is having himself a good preseason so far, as he almost picked off Tom Brady twice in last Thursday’s preseason game.

If he isn’t traded, then fans should be excited to watch Darby help contribute to a possible Super Bowl repeat.
