While the Eagles are still one of eight teams in the playoffs, there are 24 teams who have already started their offseason. Of course when others are already looking ahead to the new league year, that means the Eagles will be dragged into those conversations.
With that in mind, Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman published an article today gathering all speculation NFL personnel are putting together about Nick Foles. One extremely interesting nugget of info was a scout saying the Raiders are all-in for the Eagles backup QB.
“One scout believes Raiders coach Jon Gruden will use some of the booty from the Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper trades (two first-rounders for Mack and one for Cooper) to make the Eagles an offer they can’t refuse.”
Back in 2013, new Raiders GM Mike Mayock said “I would bang the table to call Nick Foles a franchise quarterback”. Mayock was the color commentator for Eagles preseason games the past few seasons, meaning he has been around Nick Foles and the Eagles long enough to form an educated opinion on the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
In the 2018 offseason, the Eagles turned down a 2nd round draft pick from the Cleveland Browns and kept Foles. Now with Foles showing that last year’s playoff run wasn’t a fluke, he has allowed the Eagles the ability to ask for a lot more for his services. This scout is making it sound like the Raiders might be ready to put all their chips on the table for the QB who once put up seven touchdowns against them. Howie Roseman will likely be foaming at the mouth if what the scout is saying turns out to be true.
