Howie Roseman has worked his magic once again. This time, he and Zach Ertz agreed to restructure the star tight end’s contract, creating more than $5.7 Million in cap space in 2019.
The Eagles converted $7.195M of TE Zach Ertz’ contract into a bonus, creating $5.756M of cap space in 2019, per source. Philly is in a healthy cap spot to maneuver if need be this offseason.

So what do all of these restricted contracts mean? The Eagles now will have over $27 Million in cap space for the 2019 season (or it can be rolled over into the 2020 season). With all of that money freed up, it appears the team might be close to a mega-contract with Carson Wentz. Even if they aren’t close now, with the ability to roll that money over to 2020, we know that a healthy portion of the money should end up in Wentz’s pockets at some point down to road.
