Earlier this offseason, it was revealed that Brandon Graham played the 2018 playoffs with a sprained ankle injury that was so severe, he had to get surgery on it when swelling went away in May. He has recently come off the Physically Unable to Perform list, but in an interview yesterday, Graham revealed to reporters that he still hasn't fully recovered from the injury yet.
Bowen brings up a fair point about Graham's status for the regular season opener. We already know he won't play in Thursday's preseason finale. That leaves him nine days to get from 80% health to 100% health, which doesn't seem likely. Although, a few weeks ago Graham did assure a reporter that he would be healthy enough to play Week 1. The team could end up choosing to rest him the first week to ensure he continues to heal and doesn't reaggravate his injury. Or they may choose to play him in the game, but use him in a smaller role and rely heavier on Chris Long and Michael Bennett until Graham is 100% healthy. It'll be interesting to see what route the team takes, and if Graham will have much, if any, say in how much he plays early on.
