Michael Rubin, co-partner of the Sixers and chairman of the sports merchandising company Fanatics, is stepping up to help those in need as the coronavirus outbreak continues to disrupt lives across the country and the world.
Rubin has created the "ALL-IN Challenge," an online fundraiser aimed at helping feed people in need as the current circumstances exacerbate food insecurity issues. The challenge aims to raise funds to feed students who relied on school meals, elderly people who may be having a more difficult time securing food supplies, people who have had their livelihoods affected by the outbreak, and frontline healthcare workers. The funds will be raised partly through an auction, and partly through sweepstakes-style entries that can be purchased.
As part of the initiative, Rubin has teamed up with athletes, entertainers, and sports teams from across the country to make available some pretty cool experiences and opportunities. And your Philadelphia Eagles have joined the effort.
There are a pair of interesting Eagles related opportunities currently available.
One, which is being auctioned off, is a double date with Eagles tight end Zach Ertz and his wife Julie. The experience includes dinner with the pair at a Philadelphia restaurant and a trip to a Sixers game with courtside seats.
The other is an Eagles assistant coach experience, which can be won through a sweepstakes by purchasing entires. The experience includes a day at Eagles training camp, attendance at a preseason game, working with Eagles coaches to design a play and an opportunity to see that play called during the preseason game. Travel and hotel accommodations are included as well.
This is a cool effort by Rubin and all those taking part and is a great way for you to help out people in need and have an opportunity for some special experiences. All funds raised will go to the following programs: Meals on Wheels, No Kid Hungry, America's Food Fund, World Central Kitchen, and Feeding America.
