Darius Slay Trade Made Official, Signs Three-Year Extension With Eagles

In the late-night hours, a report came out about the Eagles having a deal in place to acquire Detroit Lions star cornerback Darius Slay. The deal has now become official.

Slay is also signing a three-year, $50 Million extension to remain a Philadelphia Eagle for a long time.

The deal will certainly load Slay's pockets up, as he slides in to become the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL (in terms of average annual value). According to OverTheCap, Howie Roseman still has ~$20 Million in cap space to work with to fill some other holes on the roster.

The Eagles finally have their #1 cornerback who can shut down opponent's #1 wide receivers. The question now is who will be the outside corner opposite of him? Will it be Jalen Mills (with the team still needing to replace Malcolm Jenkins)? Or will Mills move to safety in Jenkins' place and the Eagles try to sign another veteran in free agency or use a high draft pick to be the other starting corner?
