Duce Staley Attends Miami’s Pro Day

Earlier this week, Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley flew down to Miami to watch the Hurricanes’ pro day and put their two running backs (Travis Homer and Trayone Gray) through drills.

Travis Homer | RB | 5’11 205lbs

Homer made All-ACC Second Team in 2018 after rushing for 985 yards on 164 carries. He ranked fifth on team with 19 receptions totaling 186 receiving yards, showing he can be a compliment in the passing game. After the addition of Jordan Howard, the Eagles aren’t likely to draft a running back early, but they could draft someone in the late rounds like Homer to have a shot at making the roster and joining the running back by committee.

Current Projection: 6th-7th Round

Trayone Gray | RB | 6’2 240lbs

Gray’s size makes him more like a fullback in the NFL. The Eagles haven’t had a tank in the backfield since LeGarrette Blount left after the 2017 season, and a tank is what the Eagles running back by committee might need. He only rushed for 83 yards and scored two touchdowns in his final season, but he can earn an opportunity to make a training camp roster after the draft concludes.

Current Projection: UDFA
