Eagles Bring Back Familiar Cornerback

After cornerback Avonte Maddox moved to safety to help with the loss of Rodney McLeod, the Eagles began to thin-out with their cornerback depth. The team is now dealing with an even thinner depth chart at cornerback with Sidney Jones dealing with a hamstring injury. With these events unfolding the team has decided to bring in a familiar cornerback as some insurance.

The Eagles traded defensive back Terrence Brooks for McDougle last season. During the 2017 season, McDougle played 54 defensive snaps (9.3%) and 135 special teams snaps (49.8%) in eight games. He served as the backup to slot cornerback Patrick Robinson in his time here, but was released in November to make room for the signing of Darnell Ellerbe.

This signing doesn't bode well for Jones' availability for Sunday's game against the Panthers. This could mean that Maddox will slide back down from the Safety spot and become the slot cornerback, with McDougle backing him up. That would make Rasul Douglas the player most likely to move to safety and help Malcolm Jenkins out.
