It's no secret the Eagles need to address their running back situation before the season starts. Whether it's through whatever free agents are left or the draft, there needs to be at least one more running back added for fans to feel comfortable enough going into the 2019 campaign with a running back they trust. The Eagles are doing their due diligence with running backs in the draft, as yesterday they spoke with Iowa State running back David Montgomery.
David Montgomery | RB | 5'11, 216 lbs| Jr.
Montgomery received tons of honors during his time at Iowa State:
First-Team All-American – PFF (2017, 2018)
Pete Taylor Most Valuable Player (2018)
First-Team All-Big 12 – AP, ESPN (2018)
Second-Team All-Big 12 – Coaches (2018)
Second-Team Academic All-Big 12 (2018)
First-Team All-Big 12 – Coaches, AP, ESPN (2017)
Ray Scott Outstanding Offensive Skill Player Award (2017)
The junior ranked 3rd in the Big 12 and 23rd in all of the NCAA in rushing yards per game last season (101.3) after gaining 1,216 rushing yards on 257 attempts. He ended up reaching pay dirt 13 times in 2018, and 26 times in his career. Singletary had a decent showing in the passing game, catching 71 passes over three seasons for 582 receiving yards, but never caught a pass for a touchdown. He would be a fine addition to the Birds' backfield, but it's an uncertainty if he could be a receiving back that Doug Pederson wants and desires.
Current Projection: 3rd Round
