The Philadelphia Eagles are keeping a close eye on some of the top running backs in this year's draft. Earlier today we wrote about the Eagles' interest in Trayveon Williams, and now we are seeing their interest in Memphis running backs Darrell Henderson and Tony Pollard.
After his pro day, Henderson was asked which teams he's been hearing from, and the Birds were mentioned.
Eagles running back coach Duce Staley was also at Memphis' pro day helping oversee the drills and getting an upclose look at Henderson and Pollard.
Darrell Henderson | RB | 5’9 200lbs
Henderson has the talents to eventually become a feature back in an NFL offense. He didn't show much in the passing game out of the back field, but he did end up with 8 receiving touchdowns in his three-year career. His 8.7 yards per touch shows he has big-play abilities, which the Eagles lacked in 2018. With the addition of DeSean Jackson and now possibility Darrell Henderson, the 2019 Eagles could have home run capabilities in both the passing and running game.
Current Projection: 2nd Round
Tony Pollard | OW | 5’11 200lbs
If the Eagles would rather stick with a late round option at running back, Pollard can fill that part. Pollard is a receiving option as well, catching over 100 passes for over 1,000 receiving yards. He can also handle kick and punt returns as well. If the Eagles draft him he'll have a shot at replacing Darren Sproles' role, something that Donnell Pumphrey failed to do.
Current Projection: 7th Round
