Eagles to Work Out AAF Quarterback

This week the Alliance of American Football suspended its operations as it prepares to eventually fold. Today the league announced that players will be allowed to sign with NFL teams immediately.

The Eagles instantly got on the phone with one of the top quarterbacks from the league, as Luis Perez will be coming to Philadelphia for a workout next week.

Perez was 3rd in the league in completions (135) and passing yards (1,460), and 5th in passing touchdowns (5). He helped lead the Birmingham Iron to the 2nd best record in the league at 5-3.

The Eagles are set with Carson Wentz as the franchise quarterback with Nate Sudfeld backing him up, but there is a decent chance the team carries three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster in 2019, especially with Wentz's recent injury history. Perez has a chance to become the 3rd QB on the roster is he has an encouraging workout, but the Eagles would still likely add a 4th quarterback during or immediately after the NFL draft that Perez would have to compete with.
