The Eagles will have a new backup QB in 2023, as Gardner Minshew is signing a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.
He reunites with Shane Steichen, who left the Eagles OC job to become the head coach in Indianapolis.
As of right now, he’d be the #1 QB on their depth chart, but the Colts are expected to draft a QB with the 4th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Minshew appeared in nine games with the Eagles, making four starts (two in 2021 and two in 2022).
In 2021 he lead the Eagles to a win over the New York Jets and started the Week 18 game where the Eagles rested their starters against the Cowboys.
In 2022 he almost lead the Eagles to an upset win over the Cowboys on Christmas Eve, but looked horrible the following week and lost a winnable game against the New Orleans Saints.
Now the Eagles need to decide if they want to sign a veteran QB in free agency that would cost a couple of million dollars, or use a mid or late-round draft pick and have a young backup QB for cheap.
