Another year of Eagles training camp, another year where an undrafted free agent rookie running back is fighting for a spot on the final 53. Bucks County native Josh Adams fully expects to get back into game action this Thursday night in Cleveland, when the Birds take on the Cleveland Browns.
Expect to see a lot of Adams Thursday, as Jay Aayi, Darren Sproles and Donnell Pumphrey will all likely sit out. A rookie UDFA coming into camp, Adams knew he had to put behind a stellar college career at Notre Dame and get to work. Unfortunately, he has been hindered a bit by injuries so far, and missed the team’s second preseason game against New England. When healthy, one can’t help but think that the Birds got another steal. In the Eagles’ first preseason game, Adams ran the ball 6 times for 30 yards and caught two passes out of the backfield for 11 yards. Adams has been catching eyes in camp and appears to be able to handle special teams work. With Jay Ajayi, Darren Sproles and Corey Clement sitting out this week, The 6’2 225lb running back has a great opportunity to make his case for his spot on the final 53 man roster.
