Well that was fast. A little after 7PM EST, the Eagles informed Nick Foles that they would be using their 2019 team option on him. Just 90 minutes later, Nick Foles has already informed the Eagles that he will pay the team the $2 Million to void his option, meaning he is set to become a free agent next month.
Of course all of this was expected when reports came out a few days ago. The next step of this process is the Eagles have to decide if they want to franchise tag Nick Foles, or if they will just let him go and hope to obtain a compensatory pick for him in 2020.
If Howie Roseman finds a trade partner before the franchise tag deadline, it is expected the team will tag him and officially announce the trade the first day of the new league year on March 13th.
