Last week the Eagles decided to lock down Brandon Graham for the next three seasons with a contract that is worth up to $40 Million. With the team already strapped for cap space, and a Carson Wentz mega-deal likely coming next season, the Eagles are reportedly looking to dump Michael Bennett's cap hit by trading him.
When the Eagles traded for Bennett a year ago, it was received with mixed emotions. Everyone knew he was a good player on the field, but some fans were concerned with the rumors that he was a "locker room cancer." Bennett proved the worriers wrong and was a great veteran addition to the roster, and an amazing addition on the gridiron. In 16 games last season, Bennett recorded nine sacks, 30 QB hits and two forced fumbles. Earlier in the offseason many expected Graham to leave in Free Agency and the team to keep Bennett as the veteran in the defensive line group. Now that Graham is locked in with a new contract, Bennett might be the odd man out. If traded, the Eagles will free up $7.2 Million in cap space, and after a great 2018 season, Bennett should receive some interest on the market.
