It's another week, and to nobody's surprise, another Sidney Jones hamstring injury. It has been 2 seasons since the Eagles took the promising CB from Washington in the 2nd round. Since then, he has only played in 14 of a possible 42 games. Granted, his rookie season was taken by the Achilles injury, even though he still found his way onto the field week 17 against the Cowboys. With all these injuries piling up, the Eagles, and Dougie P, have started to take notice. In a press conference earlier this week Pederson said Jones needed to "break through that threshold" with his frequent hamstring injuries.
This could be Jones' final chance at proving his worth. He has been taking starting snaps all season with the Eagles abundance of injuries. But Mills, LeBlanc, and Maddox are all poised to make their returns within the coming weeks, making this game against the Vikings very important for Jones and his future on this team. He has played alright this season when has has played. Grabbing 1 INT while being targeted 18 times, allowing 11 receptions.
What happens if Jones fails to capitalize on this opportunity? His name has popped up recently as a trade possibility, and the Eagles could deal him before deadline. Maybe a change in scenery will help Jones. We will see what he can make of what may be his final chance against Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs of the Vikings.
