Steven Nelson Signs with Texans

The Eagles have a hole at CB2 to address before the start of the season, as last year's #2, Steven Nelson, is heading down south to join the Houston Texans.

Nelson had a a fairly decent season with the Birds, as he produced 50 tackles, 7 deflected passes, and one interception in 16 games played.

2021 was the first time in a long time where Eagles fans didn't have much to complain about with their team's cornerback play. Darius Slay had one of the best seasons by an Eagles CB of the 21st century, and Nelson has some ups and downs but overall was solid compared to other CBs Eagles fans have dealt with.

With Avonte Maddox coming off of his best pro season, it's clear he does his best as the #3/slot corner, so the Eagles will need to bring in another corner to be the #2 guy opposite Darius Slay.

There are still a few solid corners left on the free agent market (Stephon Gilmore, Joe Haden) that the Eagles can bring in, or they can try to secure a top cornerback in the upcoming draft (Sauce Gardner, Derek Stingley Jr., Trent McDuffie, Andrew Booth Jr., Kaiir Elam).

We should know by the end of the month what Howie Roseman's plan is for the position.
